From Romania with love! This rucksack is as simple and rugged as they come. Manufactured from the 1970's-1980's these are based on a old German way of thinking-the back straps hook onto the back of the rucksack whilst the front straps would be intended to hook into a leather webbing belt. This is a later version that has added nylon straps - the front ones to store a helmet, the side ones to store a tarp or other clothing/gear.
If your not running this with a set of webbing, it can with a bit of field modification be used as a ordinary backpack by folding the metal closed over the D-rings (Not advised for collecting value!). Made of pure Canvas and thick Leather these have lasted 50 years with barely any scratches, they would likely last 50 more!
